What is your background? And how do you work with industrial security on a daily basis?
I have been 10 years in the military and 34 years in the EDB/IT business. I have worked as developer/programmer, system programmer, SQL injector in a legal way, project manager, educator, system administrator, Security-, risk- and preparedness manager and leader, so I have experience with industrial security I various forms. On a daily basis, I manage threat hunting, vulnerability management in both IT and OT/ICS Open-source intelligence and dedicated platforms.
What do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges in connection with cyber- and industrial security?
I Think that the biggest challenges are that they have to live together, but still separated. The IT and digitalization must protect the OT/ICS from any cyber-attacks and the OT/ICS energy has to deliver energy to the IT and digitalization. Be able to separate the environments in a physical segmentation and be able to run in an island mod.
When looking forward just 5-10 years, what do you think will be different within security?
Keep it simple and stupid in the OT/ICS in a secured way. AI in the IT world securing the information transition.
Besides more funds for security, what do you think would make a difference in the industry?
I think we need more skilled OT personal. Being open and transparency in sharing IOC’s, is what I think would make a difference. Another thins is the Tech gigiants and ICS vendors, they must step up at the security in their products.
What are your own expectations for the conference? And which keynotes are you looking forward to hearing?
Let the government be at natural part of the security. I am looking forward to hearing Joe Slowik talk about how cyber shaped the invasion of Ukraine. I am also looking forward to C. Miller and his presentation
What will your keynote be about, and which learnings are you hoping the participants take with them?
I hope to deliver my point of view for an architecture according to the Purdue model and AI. Moreover, my presentation is about reaction time in balancing the PowerGrids.
